Residential network & cameras

Cat6 Wiring & Security Cameras in Bulls Gap, TN

On this Bulls Gap job, I ran Cat6 cable throughout the home for the TVs and computers and installed a multi-camera Reolink security system. My favorite part of the setup is how easy it is to use: the homeowners can switch inputs on the bedroom TV to see the cameras, or check in from their phone or computer while they’re away.

Wired connections for TVs and computers

I ran Cat6 for the devices that tend to stay put: the TVs and computers. The home’s network uses a TP-Link mesh system for Wi-Fi and runs on a 1-gig fiber internet connection. The photo below shows a passing wiremap check on one of the Cat6 runs.

Wired Reolink cameras

I installed 12 MP Reolink cameras using Power over Ethernet, or PoE. Each wired camera gets power and carries video over its Ethernet connection.

From the bedroom TV to the phone

At home, the camera system is on a separate input on the bedroom TV, so the homeowners can see multiple views on one screen. Away from home, they can pull up the cameras on their phone or computer.
